Non Contact Optical Biometer

The latest non-contact optical biometers are designed with optical low coherence reflectometry(OLCR) of Michelson interferometer, applying advanced light source to acquire higher resolution and accuracy on axial length measurement. Optical Biometry machine plays a great role in myopia management, refractive surgery and cataract surgery.

Biometers are available in optical and ophthalmic versions. Both types of biometry machines play an important role in different fields.

Axial length is the most objective and sensitive indicator for monitoring the progression of myopia in children and adolescents. It reflects the degree and speed of myopia development earlier and more stably than optometry. We can use the optical biometer(such as SWAN700P and AL-VIEW LITE) to achieve myopia prevention and control.

 

Accurate measurement of axial length and corneal curvature is also the basis of modern third-generation and fourth-generation intraocular lens calculation formulas (such as SRK/T, Hoffer Q, Holladay 1 & 2, Haigis, Barrett Universal II), which directly determines the accuracy of postoperative refractive status. Secondly, refractive surgery requires such equipment to screen and evaluate key data before and after surgery, so ophthalmic biometers(AL-VIEW) play a core role in cataract surgery.
